Had some motor questions not related to square body, and since this is for a small car, not sure if anyone has built one of these here. So I started seriously thinking of what motor to build for my 75 Monza Towne Coupe and immediately ran into a question.
I was thinking of doing a 406 0.030 bored 509 casting, but getting harder to find a good block, so started looking at aftermarket blocks. Really interested in either a dart 427 or 434 short block, would match up great to a set of Iron eagle 230cc 2.08's I've had stashed away with a good roller Comp cam. Want to keep it around a 10.5 cr so I can run it on pump gas, researched building one of these and think that it shouldn't be too much to get 500hp to the wheels, this is around a 2,700lb car. My biggest challenge will be keeping suspension together, keeping to the stock 3 link design with torque arm set up, but modified parts since it works real well.
Question I'm wondering with any of these combo's is would I be able to set up a cooling system that would keep it in the green on the street? While I'm drawn to the 434, wondering if the 427 would run slightly cooler. This would be mostly a street car because I don't plan on doing a cage of any sort, just suspension mods. Want to keep the car as stock looking as I can from the outside and not cut it up too much since there are only around mid 50's of these registered left.
