Sbc 350 kick-down cable help

I am currently in the process of fixing issues that were left unfixed on this retro old of a 74 c10 for my dad and I. I have relocated the fuel pump and fuel lines to resolve vapor lock issues
Now we are attempting to get this lockdown cable installed. This is an edelbrock 1406 carb. Kick down cable was never installed so I routed it through the bracket but it seems like something is missing. Any help would be appreciated.

This is what mine looked like with a 1406. Top cable is the throttle, and I think that at this point the throttle cable retainer did not snap properly into the bracket. Cable was later replaced.

Fitting on the end of your kickdown cable seems way longer than mine.

Have your tried using the adjuster on your kickdown cable? Maybe it’s just way out of adjustment. Pop up the adjuster tab on top and see if you can pull the cable back.

Yes the cable will adjust, I'm just unsure where to mount it too. seems as though I need to change the location of that return spring to the front. otherwise its in the way of the cable.

T bolt in the hole spring is in. Not sure where to get one other than a core carb. Like you said need to move spring to the front.

Put the spring in big hole and attach it to something forward.

AutoZone ftw. Throttle relocation bracket installed and working and kickdown cable installed. Still needs adjusting but it has a home finally. I call this one s win. Thanks gurus.
