For those of you that have installed it. Where did you mount your receiver? The instructions say to mount on the front of the cab for a truck. Just curious as I was thinking of mounting it on the rear of the cab. I was also wondering if I should drill a hole and run it into the cab or run it from the back window up. Either way I'm going to run it through the head liner and down the A pillar.

I had one but ruined it by cutting the antenna wire. I placed it right in front of the cargo light on the back of the cab. It gets a complete view of the sky there so I figured it'd be fine after reading the directions.

I took advantage of the marker lights and fished the wire down the A-pillar to the dash.

Yeah I'm gonna have to look into a place for it. I don't have marker lights or a rear cargo light. Thinking I'm going to drill a hole, mount it, and silicon the hole to weather proof it.

I'm not saying it won't work or you couldn't try it. But it specifically says not to mount it on your dash.

I may just wait and try and figure out a better solution for mounting the receiver. I have to pull the headliner out anyways to fix the sagging and remove some of the old equipment the PO installed in the truck. Anyone want a vintage escort radar detector or a lamp? lol

The only reason they say on the front of the cab is for guys that stuff a camper on or a big assed fifth wheel. otherwise.. mount it to see most of teh sky and your good.

As for the detector.. I would love it if my truck would go over 55 mph...

I had one in my Buick for 10 years in the back window deck.

Why not try it first? Then you dont have to worry about it getting cut or broken etc. If you get poor performance. Then put it elsewhere. But on the rear window deck worked really well

Here is the one I had on my Subaru, also worked really well, actually slightly better than the deck on the Buick.
http://www.myradiostore.com/interior-glass-mount-xm-radio-antenna-w-pink-fakra.aspx I would highly recommend this one.
I just don't like extra things on my paint of it can be avoided.

Well you can install everything and just keep your antenna not installed and try it. See if it works on the dash. open your window try it on the roof. See what works better. Then when you got it figured out mount it where you like it best.

Pretty much what I'm going to do.
