Bought this ‘79 Sierra Grande 4x4 half last summer, just getting around to messing with the forums. Nice to meet you all! 350/TH350, NP203 case with corporate 10 bolts. I’ve added a set of 6x9’s and a Bluetooth stock radio, and I just put this triple-double show bar in last week; next modifications are 33” tires on chrome wagon wheels and maybe a 2” lift. Was my winter driver, put around 6k miles on it since I got it. What do you think fellas is she too rusty to look pretty?? And yes the lights work! :headbang:

I am from Iowa so I don’t get many compliments on rust or patina! As soon as I put my roll bar in people started to notice… I think it looks goofy with 31” tires and no lift:Big Laugh: debating on what style to go with. Truck is too rusty to justify putting 500 dollar kits in… Thanks for the welcomes everyone :headbang:

Howdy from Ohio!

It takes a lot for a truck to be "too rusty" and yours certainly ain't. The chrome show bar is pretty cool too, btw!

That is not even close to qualifying as the rustiest. That is a nice truck worthy of a restoration.

Counting the highway divider dash strips by looking thru your floor is rusty. Removing transmission bellhousing bolts while laying inside the cab, is rusty.
Having to pull your truck over and retrieve the jack and jumper cables that fell thru the bed is rusty.
Working on the left rear brakes while your buddy is working on the right rear brakes while looking at him in the eye while you chat, that is rusty.

Welcome from NC. The chrome showbar earns bonus points! Your truck is MINT compared to my 76 Silverado tho. If it were not for floormats, there'd be no floor!

Thanks a ton fellas! She is really chewy but it’s definitely a pretty reliable truck. Most of the kinks are worked out and now I’m gunning for stance. Chrome wagons or rally wheels with 33’s and a 2” lift?:boxed:
Welcome! Haha not the rustiest by a long shot.
IMO, if you’re going 33s, especially on a 1/2 ton, may as well go 4”. It’s really no difference in cost except with 2” you could likely get away with no drop steering arm.
Shop around. May take a bit but you could find someone selling some used 4” springs for cheap.
Although $500 all in for a lift kit, new hardware and shocks and a drop Pittman arm is really the way to go. 1 and done.
