That bondo sounds like the ticket. I would just cram a bunch of that **** into all your rust holes.

I dont know what your work space looks like but its going to require some space and a donor body, Peices of truck are going to be all over your yard. Its going to be very time consuming and cant forget this.... your gonna have to park it and drive something else while you hack it up.

If I'm not mistaken I think 89sub's goal here was to make it more solid rather than just hacking the rig up! I'd rather have big rust holes than simply throwing bondo in a hole but that's just me... :shrug:

No...not saying that but surely there's a better way than just cramming bondo into the hole!! IMO, you're better off taking your time and doing it right or scrapping it and looking for something else. :shrug:

if you are gettin carbon monoxide you need the exhaust fixed not the truck. or if it's somebody else's fumes getting in they slap some tin over it or something. slapping bondo in a hole takes alot of bondo, use some spray foam or something to fill it in first and then bondo or tin over it, then bondo, you could even do mat and resin.

Swims - you have to realize there's a lot of suction drag behind a car. It's not a good idea to drive with the back window open in a Blazer/Sub because of it unless you have the front windows open as well. It's very possible that those holes are dragging in exhaust...Doesn't take much to cause health problems!

Kittie hair bondo, thats what I was trying to think of. You want to keep the elements out and at the same time retain some structural integrity in the body of the car. Just slap some of that **** on it and repair the outer panels everyone will see.

eeehh I don't own or drive vans, suvs or anything so I have no clue. I just figured it was more from exhaust leaking or something.

What about just hit the rust with rust converter. They say you have to have some rust or the stuff don't work. That means don't get it to clean. Just knock off the loose stuff and paint it with POR-15 Rust converter. The stuff converts rust to a solid surface and kills any new incoming rust or existing rust from spreading.

I like rust converter. I've used it on things that I've fabricated that began to surface rust before I could finish up. Couple things to know though, WEAR GLOVES!!! If you dont and you get it on you, you will be wearing it for a week. Also make sure the rusty area is completely dry. Usually a place is rusted out because water pools or runs down on a spot constantly. If it dont seem dry put it off for a hot summer day when you know it will be completely dry.

I covered my frame in POR15 on the 77 and I covered myself from head to toe with gloves on my hands, long sleeves and long pants. All clothing was ruined when I was done and I still ended up with small spots on my face. That stuff works GREAT but I definitely won't come off with soap and water!!! :D

1. Clean out loose rust.
2. Spray with converter.
3. Sheet metal and seal what I can, tiger hair and spray foam the rest.
4. Use repair panels for outside.
5. Reinforce/plate body mount points.

This is what I am looking at so far from all you's guys advice. And finish it off with the roller paint job. o.0

Looks like between shipping and discounts the two might come out to be about the same in the end. I've dealt with LMC a lot only because they are local to me and I get a 10% discount from them due to being a member of the truck club that I am and have always been happy. In the past I've heard bad things about JCW and their customer service but that might have changed by now :shrug:
