Yeah, throw on some spray on undercoating! That'll really help too :)
Once I finish spraying rust converter, plating, and primering I'll probably do that. That will help seal things I would think...

Yesterday my LMC package came in, the 2 door drivers side rocker piece and the front lower rear wheel well section.

Before i put the new cab and bed on my truck i used POR15 to paint the cab floors in and out and the bottom of the bed, inside bedsides and anywhere i could reach with a brush.

It was all 100% rust free, all i did was degrease it and go over everything with a scotch brite pad and that was in 1998 and i still have zero rust.

This truck is used year round and is kept outside and where i live they use so much damn road salt in the winter a study found that they are actually turning the ground water into salt water.

I firmly believe that it is a great rust preventative/sealer and well worth the extra money.

Is it the same consitency as regular paint? I see it comes in a pop top can, you got to brush that stuff on or can it be sprayed?

It can be sprayed but may need a larger nozzle for the stuff to come out of. Brushing works well though cuz it dries very smooth with no brush marks

Yeah but... But... POR15 really does not work as a preventative measure as I understand it. It only works as a rust converter. Without rust its nothing more than paint. So if you are painting it on something that is NOT rusty as a preventative measure, you're just wasting your money. I'd love to hear I am wrong about my understanding but that's the way I understood the stuff to work. It will stop current rust in its tracks and thats about it.

The big difference, though, is that it's not supposed to chip like paint does. It dries extremely hard and is much tougher than true paint.

Even without rust it will dry tougher than paint? If so, I could still see it having some preventative charachteristic to it then.

Yes, no matter if there is rust beneath it or not it'll dry harder than paint.

hmm... Makes me wonder if on one of my truck that I am gonig to do a off frame restore, if I shouldn't POR15 the frame as a primer??? I wonder how well paint will adhere to it and not flake off.

This is from the FAQ page on por15`s website.

WHAT IS THE BEST SURFACE ON WHICH TO PAINT POR-15?
POR-15 likes rusted surfaces best. Seasoned metal and sandblasted metal are also good. POR-15 does not adhere well to smooth, shiny surfaces, but will adhere well to those surfaces with the proper preparation.

I'm thinking Por15 would be a lousy primer be it dries too smooth. However, with that said I'm not sure how sandable it is to scuff it up in order to paint over it. What would be te benefit of using it as a primer?

Im just gonna throw this idea out there... I've had a few beers.

Get as many gallon cans of bondo 100 bucks will buy, pack all the holes and rust with bondo. Sand it all to shape and get a cheap ass macco paint job, put that bitch on Craigslist.
