Running an Engine outside the vehicle

I used a $25 stand from jegs to run the 350 from my 79 to break in the cam, worked pretty good, did not try to get away at all. I'm not sure if they have one for a 6.2 or if the small/big block stands work for them but its a inexpensive option.

And now I think about it, this will let me move the engine into the garage to work on, as I can't get the front loader in here. Just put the stand outside, bring the engine over, and wheel it in, cool.

For anyone in the future looking at this, the key is to search for engine cradle, not engine stand.

I fit an LS 5.3 in one of these as well. Worked just fine. Can't remember where I got it, but it was same price as yours....$25.

Sounds like the cradle is a good solution, but for another option start at post #141 in my 383 build thread for simple homemade run-stand that I built with (mostly) stuff I had laying around. Worked like a charm, engine didn't try and lift up at all.
