Routing of blower switch wiring to firewall grommet?

The 3 wires going from the blower speed switch to the firewall grommet are visible in my '81 C10. They droop down under the heater box.

It appears to me that they should be routed up and over the heater box. Am I correct in this thinking?

Yes, they should be over the top. There are factory wire retainers up under the dash that should retain them and keep them supported.

thanks, will reroute the wires. Turns out I do have a center dash speaker also.
