what are you using the dremel on that is wearing them out? Maybe you should be using a bigger tool for it.

I've had a corded dremel for a dozen years or so. Never had a problem with it. Have even used it to port some iron heads before. Still works like new.

That's the dumb part, it's all light duty stuff.
I was opening up the cracks in my dash pad when I burned this last one up. 15mins tops using a cutter and sander on foam and vinyl.
I've used it in the past for deburring stuff, drilling small holes, etc. Nothing heavy at all. I have grinders and drills for that.
I just need something small and mobile.

I just bought another cheap 4" electric angle grinder (just so I wouldn't have to change wheels) and the POS won't even turn on. Lol...

I have weird luck with stuff like that. I've owned a 33 gallon maintenance free Craftsman air compressor for the last 17 years, that has been used for paint and bodywork on several vehicles as well as been constantly used for all other repairs as well. By all acounts, this thing should have gone **** up years ago, but it has still yet to miss a beat.

Totally out there though, have you checked the voltage at your receptacles? If the voltage is low (sometimes system grounds are not the best, and have had residential transformer start to fail), some electric motors will not start, can cause issues with brush motors too. On the flip side, a higher voltage doesn't cause as many problems. I've found lines that had a short in them, won't trip the breaker, but because the ground was bad would read 50-60vac on the hot and 30-50vac on the neutral to ground. Older power tools didn't give a crap on the voltage or lack of ground for the most part, most of the new stuff is so under engineered and sized to the bare minimum to make a profit that voltage tolerance is lower and life expectancy damn near seems half...blame it on electron flow, lol.

Lol.... No, I don't store it in a lake.
The only time it sees water is when I put it in the dishwasher to clean it.

I really do need to hit up some yard sales, though. I used to enjoy them, but haven't been to one in years.

I have one of those, too. I have no idea how it hasn't blown up.
I even had a regulator leak and it would cycle every 45mins or so if I left it on.
I forgot to shut it off once and went away for the weekend.
That was like 2yrs ago. It's unstoppable.

Yep. Mine kicks on every now and again when it leaks down enough. Hasn't been unplugged or switched off in the 5 years I've been in this house.

Hmm......I'll check that just to be sure, but I've never seen anything but 120 on my system.

I said a loonnng time ago, that when it finally dies, I'll replace it with a good two stage 60 gallon model. I think it's hanging on just to spite me.

I tried once vainly to do a little cleanup and un-shroud valves... man, pissing in the wind..

Bought my dad a dremel 3000 for Christmas, many Christmas' ago, he's still using it to this day, seems to be a pretty good dremel. Maybe not for the heavy duty stuff. But much better than the cheap HF dremel I have lol

I've have had two corded Dremel tools over the years, and both still work fine. My daughter uses the oldest one (probably 10+ years old) for arts & crafts stuff.

I mostly use air die grinders and cut-off tools, but the Dremel comes in handy for tight spots. I like the EZ Lock cut-off wheels for fine cuts, but they are not cheap. I found a 12-pack for $16 last year, but the lowest price I see now is around $20. They are also quite fragile, so don't put too much pressure on them!
