That is OK Mine friend, it is good to know that You were able to get Your rig back home without incident.
Sometimes it takes a couple of trys to get things all together so they are safe and sound, I would rather see the shaft go to Your Burb to get it back on the road. I think the safety of You and Your family is of the upmost importance. So, dont feel bad about it. There will always be another shaft from somewhere and Mine old 79 is working just fine with the rag coupler, it is in good condition and will last a very long while.
Thank You for thinking of Me.

I'll keep you and Old77 in mind next trip to PAP. Almost that time of year for me to go look for squarebody treasure. :) :handshake:

Yep, that's exactly what I intend to do with mine. Just notch it like you did. Did you use a drill bit? I was thinking of using a round grind stone on a drill motor.

I used a 4 1/2" angle grinder with a used blade, had a round edge on it. Perfect.

Guess I spoke too soon. My shaft developed a slop, I found out where its at, but how to fix it? I hope the pics explain well enough where the play is. It at the upper part of the shaft, right below the u-joint. The inner sleeve is rotating inside the outer sleeve. it has a tounge that catches after about 1/4" turn either way.

If I were to weld it together, I can't tell if there might be any plastic parts in there.

I think that is a rubber bushing in there aint it for vibration? Serves the same purpose as the rag joint?

I welded the ears of the inner sleeve to the outer sleeve. absolutely no slippage now. As far as vibration, I can't tell the difference driving down the road. I'll post up some picks in a bit.
