Has anyone seen this done on a Suburban on a 85 vintage, my wife is kinda well vertically challenged let say LOL and she loves this Suburban but being 4X4 it is taller so thought maybe they could be retrofitted.
I will figure it out but searched here and found nothing.

Been wondering the same. I need to put something on but really torn what to do. Back in the day my 88 Sub I put lighted running boards on which were great functionally but not so much aesthetically. Now on my 86 I want function and looks but the choices are very limited for these old squares.

I'm sure you could get some ideas from some of today's vehicles that have them.

Aftermarket, but these will run you $1,000+

Dunno if they have them for standard cab length.

You'd have to make mountings etc to fit a square body no matter what ones you choose.

I installed AMP running boards on the K10 frame under my 54 Chevy Truck. I had to fabricate a "hanging bar" to which the boards attach. I used boards from a CJ5 4 door and while they do not retract perfectly flat under chassis they work very well to cut the 18" step to 10". May be a similar "hanging bar" might work to adapt to your needs.

Any motorhome over 100K has a auto retractable step.

Any chance you could post some pictures? I would love to do this but an worried the fuel tank will get into the way.
Thanks

Because my truck is a 54 upper and an 84 GMC lower i am split between two worlds. The original k10 had side tanks where the running boards are now. the use of a "hanging bar" allows power board attachment well below normal attachment points and also allows articulation to ensure step is flat and level when extended. heres one pic extended.
