@ MadO, I see everyone getting all wound up about POR. I plan on using it on the floor pans and in the channel after a good blasting.

:waytogo: best plan for rust prevention. Not everyone has the luxury of living in California lol

Same here. I will get under mine in the winter with a hose and wash every nook and cranny. It's cold, wet, dirty and it sucks but rust sucks. I also plan on using fluid film as rust proofing since it wont form pockets for stuff to sit in. I want to make some wands to get into all the spots between the panels and load it up. Like dripping out of it for a few weeks loaded up. I used to do that with linseed oil with really good luck. The salt wouldnt even stick to the chassis.

Ya that's not a bad idea either. I have used ATF before too.

Really if you want it to last it sleeps in your garage all week and gets taken to the grocery store on the week end lol But I plan on using mine like you would any other vehicle you buy.

My wheel wells are POR15 and then their chassis coat black and it is holding up awesome. Everybody always under coats the wheel wells but that only gives the moisture and salt somewhere to sit and hide. My smooth wheel wells wash up nice and clean!

I was thinking about having spray on bed liner sprayed on my new inner fenders i thought if they were totally incased in the stuff they would last a long time but I like your method too. How did you deal with the double thick spot where the fender bolts to the cab. You know the spot that rotts first. I thought about welding it all the way around.

OK, So what did the hump come out of? Year, Series and Power train? C10, 20 or 30? K10, 20 or 30? Manual trans truck? and Year.

Then, what exactly is going into? Your cab. Year, OE Powertrain and Series?

It came out of an 83 i believe. I looked at like 20 trucks twice. No motor or trans in it but it was two wheel drive.

Puting it in an 84 low hump auto two wheel drive cab that is going on my 87 R3500 frame with an SM465.

I cut the back lip off of this hump as well as the last two bolts and bent the flanges down to a 45. Fits great! Sorry I don't have more info. It wasnt bolted into the truck so I grabbed it. I found a cab with a floor like mine and test fit the humps I found to determine which one to use.

10-4. I didn't realize as late as the early 80's had the bolt in hump. I thought that was all pre 80. Good to know. I might just end up using my 84 C20 Cab after all for the 85 K10/K20 project.

I feel the same way. I am going to POR15 the cab floor underneath. I am not sure about the inside floor though. I thought about using bedliner. I have always felt that the floor insulation was the biggest cause of the floors rusting out. It seems like that stuff never dries. I know it wasn't salt because the truck sat in the backyard for over 20 years. It never saw salt or wax all that time either.

I am coating the frame, leaf springs, front end and rear end with brush on gloss black rustoleum paint. I have always used that stuff. You can tell where I painted it years ago. I think that is why the frame looked as good as it did. I pulled strips of paint off of the inside of the left bedside underneath where I painted it years ago. This was before POR15.
