You will probably have to go to a different part of the country where it does not rain so much, and they don't salt the roads.

My truck was originally on the farm in North Dakota (lots of snow, but no salt), then in San Antonio (no snow, not much rain) and now in Virginia (quite a bit of rain and humidity; salt on the roads). I have seen more underbody rust develop during the last six years in Virginia than my '75 truck had in the rest of its life. Where the truck is located makes a lot of difference.

It doesn't have to be a 76' as long as everything can be made to look identical to a 76' with minimal effort. I don't want to spend much more than 2k shipped.

Aren’t all cabs identical except for the seat belt mounting points on the 76-77?

I know the dash pad is different
Will a 76 dash pad for on a 82 dash frame ?

You’re gonna have to go look at it

Don’t send money for a rust free cab and spend more money to get it shipped

The seller will definitely lie unless you know the seller personally and trust them

There were cab differences through the years. Wiper switch mounting changed slightly in '75 I think, then another slight change in '78. In '79, the VIN moved to the dash. In '81, the cowl changed to accept hood hinges and wiper posts used 3 mounting holes instead of two. The dash also gained speaker holes on each side of the dash, under the pad. In '84, the wiper switch moved to the column, so the headlight switch moved north an inch or so on the dash.

The different trans humps in the floor is a whole nother conversation.
