does anyone have any pictures of K10 fleetside with a standard bumper as opposed to a step/tow bumper. I see them all the time on stepside and they look great but I don’t think I have ever seen one on a fleetside

I don't have a picture, but my buddy bought a new 82 C20 Camper Special. It came with a standard bumper and a receiver hitch. Looked pretty much like a Blazer bumper.

Hey Keith you don't happen to have any pics of how that hitch mounts up or how you get in behind the plate do you? I am doing some office daydreaming about making a hitch for my truck or buying one that does exactly that.

They used to sell these back in the day. Here's a link to another forum. The original post was 11 years ago.

I'll have to do some looking.

I had to forfeit my laptop when I retired so I lost all my photos, documents, contacts, etc, that were stored there. Anything that was posted on the internet can be recovered but I have to find it first.

Busy busy busy. The act of getting retired is a full time job.

Plus, all the "hey, since you're home, could you do such and such for me?"

I'm looking forward to when I get to do something I want to do.

Thanks for askin, by the way.

Found a couple -

My platform hitch happens to be homemade, but the key is to get the receiver portion to be positioned directly behind the license plate.

Then I used a flip up plate mount (this one happens to be for a '74 Chevelle) to allow the ball mount stub to be inserted through a notch in the license plate bracket -

I'm reminded of a story form when I had that set up on the blue truck.

I had to rent a U Haul trailer for something one time. After doing all the paperwork the clerk and I went out to the truck to get it hooked up. He walked around behind it and said "Hey! How you gonna pull a trailer with no hitch?!".

I didn't say a word, but flipped the plate up and stuck the ball mount in the receiver, and then stopped and looked up at him.

"Whelp - Ya got me" he said.

(lol)

Thanks for the pics and explanation. I will have to do something similar because I don't want the hitch to be hanging down there and I don't want to have to use a different truck if I need to tow something.
