so I’ve never liked my fake wood grain gauge bezel (or the dash and door panel trim) that they put in the ‘90 and ‘91 Silverado burbs. But today I found this bezel at the Portland Swap Meet and picked it up for just $10. Any tips on a refresh for these? Id specifically like to clean up the chrome trim that goes around each gauge hole.

Make sure you don't use anything with ammonia. The chrome on the rings is something like vacuum plating and it's very thin. Be careful.

Cool that you were there and we saw the same stuff. Yeah, $15 was a good price and then I offered $10 not expecting to get it but he said sure. (but I think it may have been the guy's buddy or something) Did you go to both expo and PIR or just PIR? Get anything good? In addition to the bezel I bought a pretty cool tilt bed utility trailer for $400

I have seen guys on my model truck forums use a Molotow Liquid Chrome pen. I just bought one myself, but haven't had a chance to try it. You can You Tube it for videos. They come in a few widths. I got mine at Hobby Lobby.

Thanks for the tip! I just bought one on Amazon and will give it a try. I just more than doubled my investment, but what the heck.

Thanks for the advice and comments, all. Can't wait to get the new bezel installed - it'll bring back good memories of my '89 K5. Now I need to find matching trim for above the glovebox and the front doors.

We did not both on Friday. Weather sucked, but what's new in the valley during spring?

I picked up a gauge set (needed the clear bezel) for $3, and a new set of diamond plate bed rails for $20, plus some misc tools.

idk...I may try a bezel next...been fooling around with various spray chrome methods-found one I like but prep is key-its not a paint but a chemical reaction that gets clearcoated at the end. Hell if I can chrome a spoon...lol

Its a multi step spray process. The chemicals are from Alsa Corp. I seen a few video demos on you-tube...and thought “no way...has to be a gimmick” but I had to try it out...and damn-it was just as they said...I couldnt believe it at first. Once I get my own process nailed down I’ll post some videos on my FB page. Its not paint per se tho...it’s a “silvering” layer that gets clear coated.

Some the the model guys have used Alclad Chrome laquer. If I recall you spray black laquer then the Alclad, then clear. Here's a model wheel with Alclad.
