1986 Burb with hotrod big block.

Took her out over the weekend for some jumping and drifting at the local off road park.

Blew something in the front axle on the drivers side, make a horrendous sound from the drivers side while in 4wd.

Spent the rest of the day drifting and racing around on some gravel / dirt and exploded something in the rear end.

Thought the 10.5 inch 4.10 rear with 8 lug axles would have been stronger than that.

Kind of expected the front corp to give me some issues.

Now looking for that set of 3/4 8 lug axles that everyone was talking about for 200 bucks.

Thank you

Rear diff was a limited slip 10.5 inch ring gear.
I had just replaced the spider gears, pinion seal, crush sleeve and outer wheel bearings and wheel seals.

It takes real **** to hurt a 14 bolt full float, unless it has the gov lock or installation error on internals.I didn’t torque ring gear bolts on a 14 bolt after a no spin locker install.Used a 1/2 ratchet and no thread locker.

Luckily,I ran it for awhile and went to change the oil.Every single bolt had backed out.Wouldn’t of been to much longer before it was destroyed.

Anyhow, ran that rear with 37” tires in the rocks, mud and pulled people out with a healthy 383.No problemsIt was out of a junkyard, never rebuilt

The front 3/4 ton is weak in stock form, especially when turning tight in 4WD.Stock GM hubs suck, especially auto hubs. The first thing to go is usually the stub shaft, hub, then u joint.

Check your axles. I bet you blew a u-joint and took out the yoke.

Take the cover off the rear. We want pics! There have been some pretty nasty explosions posted on here lol

The spider gears which were purchased new from Richmond only 3 months ago are completely destroyed.

The carrier pin was stuck in the carrier.
We used a cutting torch to remove the carrier pin.

with another set of spider gears and new carrier pin she would be up and going again, but this sf 14 bolt is coming out and a ff 14 bolt is going in.

Here are some photos of the destroyed 14 bolt sf spider gears.

Photo is from 6am cst so it was a bit dark outside but you get the idea of what happened.
