Rebuild or Swap?

Period correct schmeriod correct, LS swap the world! lol

For a budget build, especially a 4x4, I'd probably stick with a warmed over small block. Having a modern engine in front of a not modern trans (SM465, TH350/400) negates much of the advantages of doing an LS swap. If you want to also use a modern trans (NV3500/4500, 4L60/80, etc), then you have more cost as far as Tcase adapters, new driveshafts, clutch adaptation, etc. It snowballs quick. Ask me how I know :lol:

Summit has some good kits. If the 350 block is good I would order a 383 kit and go from there. I guess it depends on your budget and how soon you need to drive the truck.
Seven months ago I bought a BluePrint 350, fully dressed thru Summit. I've had nothing but problems. Summit refuses to take any responsibility and says BluePrint handles all warranty issues. BluePrint has sent me three engines (or maybe just twom because what they say is a third engine actually looks like they just tried to repair the second one) and none of them are working. Getting ready to forget them and demand a total refund. Legal action will be initiated if I get any more static. I would not buy anything from BluePrint and will avoid Summit because of their refusal to help. I actually have only had the truck back in my possession for 2 days in thee last 7 months.

In my opinion, rebuilding the 350 is your best bet. It’s easy and can be done on a fairly cheap budget and will look great all painted up again. Plus, nothing looks better than a time period correct engine that’s been redone.
Again, just my opinions. You do what you want.
