I am going to replace my rear shocks, At this time I am not lifting it so I really just want to buy a nice mid range shock for the meantime.

I'm looking for something <$200 for a pair.
A shock that is good on both the streets and decent off-road.

You guys are the masters of squares so I would really appreciate your input!

bilstein and edelbrock are usually at the top and also at the top of the price range, but a bit cheaper, mono sense trac, or even air shocks, and then kyb's and some of the upper end price wise gabriels and such.

After some research from the suggestions given, I'm going with the Bilstein 4600 series.

Let me know if I've made a sound decision!

You should be happy- I've had those and liked them. I also bought the KYB monomax ones and liked them also. I would rank them about even.

I just redid my shocks all around this past Sunday.

I went with Gabriel Guardian on all 4 corners. I don't have a lift and this is my "go to the dump/pollute the atmosphere by driving around" truck. It had Monroe LT Gas-matics on the front and some really old Tough Country shocks on the back. I didn't realize how bad the rears were.

It was like night and day difference with the Gabriels on there. They are a good "stock" shock replacement.

Rockauto has them for $9.50 a piece (wholesaler closeout). It was $51 with shipping. I was like so what if they suck it was only 50 bucks.

I just bought some basic Monroe gas-adjustable shocks for the rear and have the fronts coming from amazon. I paid 75$ at a local carquest, and ~55$ on amazon for the same pair. They have really improved the ride, smoothing out bumps and eliminating wheel bounce on rough Michigan roads.

Can't compare them to anything else though; these shocks are probably the first ones on the truck in 10 years judging by the rust lol

Monroe actually calls their gas adjustable shocks a "premium product" though they have an even better "sensatrack" shock that correspondingly more expensive. Not worth it on my budget, but 200$....

Monroe Gasmatics or Magnum, forget the name but I swear by them and will be buying a set for the front soon.
