These look nice, but this is below the original mounting point, right?

I had a similar issue with my 99 ranger. This was the rear passenger side.
Ended up taking a thick plate of steel but cut holes through the plate to fit around the rivet heads and welded it to the face and rear of the frame.
Held just fine after. Cant find a picture of the repair anymore.

edit: PS this ^ is why I don't drive a ford anymore.

Count me in. Mine had a nice little section broken out and the shock was flopping around. I had some washers from a construction job laying around that looked to be about the right right size (1 5/8" square x 1/4" thick) and just needed the center hole drilled out. I was too chicken to weld it myself since it's inches from the gas tank so I had a local shop do it while I watched from across the street.

Plate it and weld it or cut it off and replace. Are Blazer ones the same?

If you have a good local fab/welding shop around they would be able to handle that. And most probably wouldn't charge too much for it.

The passenger side is mounted in the frame like that while the drivers side is mounted with a bracket on top of the frame. You can see the picture is from the passenger side

There must be quite a few variations for the rear shock mount, since my '75 K25 does not show any evidence of a bracket ever being mounted on the top of the frame on either side. My truck is a Camper Special with the 8400 GVW and 7 leaf rear springs, so maybe that also makes the shock mount a little different.

On both sides my rear shock is mounted into a hole in the frame, about midway from top to bottom. Its always looked to me like the shock should a better bracket with more support for the upper end, but it was that way when I got the truck, and it has seemed to hold up. The ORD rear shock braces look like they would work for my K25, and in the LMC catalog I also found an upper shock brace for the front shocks.

The OP posted for a suburban. A pickup would never have that setup, suburbans have different frames. I’m not positive but I would imagine thats the way all suburbans are setup with the drivers side on a mount on top of the frame like that. Maybe not 3/4 burbs? But I’m not sure

Possibly cuz the original pickup mount location would interfere with the gas tank? Then it wouldnt matter if it was a 1/2 ton or a 3/4 ton. And maybe blazers are the same.

My 84 burb has the same setup. My hole is a little bit wallowed out but not broken yet lol
