Any way to identify what I need to replace this on my 88 K5?

And the million dollar question...

Anyone know where I can get a replacement near Charlotte, NC?

Probably gonna need a new cover, that one is easily repairable though.

But really, it would be helpful if you removed the cover so the damage can be assessed...

To me, it looks like the cover was cut open. You need to remove the cover and show us the insides.

I thought the same thing until I noticed the piece of steel the same width of the hole sticking out near the bottom.
I saw that but figured it was the cover torn down after cutting. I guess it might be ring toof? We still need pics of the inside @DGDamato , we need to see this carnage

Usually that hole in the cover like that means the center pin dropped out. Good old 10 bolts

I was at a stop sign turning right and it felt like my 8x10 trailer jumped off the ball and slammed into my frame next thing you know...I'm sitting at a standstill with her bleeding all over the road!

Anyone got 373, reduced slip with pozy near Charlotte, NC?

The RPO CODE in the glove box is G80 with GT4 gear set up.

So you did cut the diff cover. Just not intentionally and did it from the inside, via torque. Kidding aside, that sucks. I hope you find a replacement to get your truck back on the road in a timely manner.
