re dark brown mahogany interior

Hi folks,

I have a 1984 GMC with a mahogany interior , i am looking for a new headliner , dash pad and various interior plastics, i really like and want to retain the color, i am having a very hard time locating the proper colors, does any one know of any NOS headliners? or other NOS or reproduction pieces? I understand that some of the plastics will have to be painted or dyed to match? what about the products that claim to paint fabric? does this last ? durable? If any person has restored a mahogany interior and has pics i would love to see them , thanks sean

Well dang, that looks nice already. The headliner you will just have to recover, with new material. Should be able to get it from an upholstery shop. Everything else you replace will just have to be painted with interior paint. Original maroon/burgundy panels would be a good foundation. SEM ColorCoat is what I would spray them with, there should be a color available that's close to the original brown. You MIGHT be able to locate a nice original dash pad in the correct color, it looks like the dark brown pad used with the tan/saddle/camel interiors that was much more common.

Yes, I agree it's a very common interior , it's too bad the color is not offered directly as a replacement . I spoke to a body shop , and yes SEM is what he recommended to keep the original. Color . Thanks for the compliment . Sean

I sold a GMC a few months back with that interior. I searched everywhere for direct replacement parts but never had any luck.
