I'm looking to update my suspension in my 87 V10 with the 305 I was going through my RPO codes and my pickup had the HD suspension package installed on it.

The question I have is when purchasing the lift kit are the springs going to be different than the stock ones? will they keep the HD application or are they special ordered?

Also are the quad shocks still needed and what brand would anyone recommend?

Off the shelf aftermarket lift springs are the same for 1/2, 3/4 & 1 tons, regardless of suspension option.

The quad shocks aren't needed, but with cheap shocks, I personally feel they do help.

Buy GOOD quality shocks, and you'll only need one at each corner.

If you do feel the need to add more shocks for whatever reason, make sure they're valved for a dual shock application. Installing 2 shocks designed to work alone will only cause your ride quality to suffer.

I have dual shock's on all four corner's on my 77 crew cab , (just for looks) , but they are rancho 9000's and I have the rear's set on 1 and the front's set on 2 , (big block on the nose) and it rides pretty sweet. I would not have gone that route with standard , stiff lift kit shock's though.
