I know how people bitch that quadrajets are hard to tune. Well. I saw this video and it don't seem to hard to me. I'm gonna do this to mine and will let y'all know what I get when I do it.

I've never attempted it before because it seemed too hard. So we'll see what happens when I do. I know my choke needs adjusting for sure.

Good video. He did miss setting the fast idle, and how to adjust the air flap resistance for the secondaries. Too, stiff and they won't open properly, too soft and they open too quickly.

The proper and best method of tuning a quadrajet is to remove it from the intake and replace it with a HOLLEY!!!!!:party52::patriot:

I disagree my friend. But I am old school and like the Q-Jet. You like the Holley. Some like the Edelbrock. Others swear by EFI, which is a great option, just very expensive. No matter what we all prefer, the main goal is an engine that runs its best, and gets decent mileage. Decent for these beasts is anything in 10-12 range, anything above that and you found the unicorn...lol... :happy160: I went with these guys, they have bigger beers than these guys do :favorites13:

I have a special place in my heart for Quadrapukes, lol. Most people only know the wore out crappy ones, but a new quad tuned right is bar-none best sound of secondary's opening. Still have a few of the harder to find 800 cfm carbs and a load of every size jet, hanger and needles I could scrounge.

This is a timely thread.
I'll be attempting to rebuild my first Quadrajet here in a week or two, now that I'm going back together with my engine.

Watched all 3 videos, and it seems straight forward.

Hooked up the choke to key on power and turned it forward a little to get the slight open like he said. One pump on the throttle and it fired right up but, still had to fan the throttle a bit at start up.

I didn't put the vacuum gage on it because I need to get some adaptors for it. But here's a short video of it running after the adjustment.

How much is a quadrajet worth in 2021. I have three I think. I know I have two and, one is rebuilt already, and the other one just came off a running truck.

Thats why ive had em so long now. Thinking ill "use them one day". Nope...ill never use one again by choice. Especially 2 or 3. Figure I may as well get some $$$ for other parts.
From a quick search its Looking like I can get about $50-70 a carb just as a parts carb and these work well so maybe $100+... And more if someone gets them locally.

I've never seen a Quadrajet for sale locally, but I've seen a few, rebuilt, cleaned, and ready to go for $200. Not sure if that's what they're selling for or not, but that's what they're asking.
