Check ujoints in neutral, with the wheels chocked and/or parking brake engaged.

Alright finally got time, the rear driveshaft slip joint has some play all the ujoints are are tight but the slip joint has slack. The choke is opening fully and under WOT how much do the secondary doors open? They’re way harder to open with the engine running than they were the other day. They only open 1/3 or so. Uploading video now.

At idle I saw the flap was open, but get watching the video again I noticed it closes after letting off throttle. Here’s the video of the carb as I’m giving throttle.

That looks normal to me. The belt squeal is killing me though. If you have pried the alternator over to get that belt as tight as possible and it is still squealing, then you need to go get a new belt.

I worked on the belt and used my flat bar to move the alternator over a little more and it isn’t squealing. But I’ve got more problems after that as well. Still not charging and I can hear and exhaust leak tick under throttle. Although not white smoking today it still did get warm.(haven’t added more coolant yet didn’t want to waste it) but it was smoking from somewhere near the back of the engine after I shut it off, oil dipstick tube maybe? It was more of a white smoke but I’m not for sure it didn’t do it again. Is the driveshaft greats able to fix the slop or is it a goner and I need a new one asap

That secondary flap needs adjustment, it's too tight.

Unless you can really shake it around and see some slop, you should be fine on the driveshaft. Whitish smoke coming from the back of the engine sounds like major oil leak running down onto the exhaust. Maybe valve cover gasket or intake end gaskets.

Mine is for sure adjusted correct and looks very similar to yours when you just blip the throttle open and have no load on it. The spring tension makes it have a delay when opening. To make sure, you just need to use a small allen wrench to loosen the lock screw under the adjustment screw, then back off the shaft until you know it isn't touching the spring and then tighten it back up 7/8-1 turn after it makes contact.

Also not positive how important it is, but the ground strap from the frame to the back of the cab is not connected it is broken at the eyelet.

I don't remember what that one is for, but it's probably there for a reason, so I'd go ahead and replace to be safe.

Where on the carb should I hook the vacuum gauge to for manifold vacuum? I’m not familiar enough with q-jet vacuum routing. I added coolant last night and I’ll work on it again later I just don’t know which port is manifold.

This shows what I was talking about. The meat of it doesn't start until 9 minutes in but there's still good info in the first 9.

Just watched the whole video, gonna go buy a new alternator and “start tweaking on it to get the bog out” to stop lol. Based on how easy his flapped around in the video I’m thinking mine might be too tight. I’m just hoping I have a small enough hex key and flat head lol.

Replaced alternator now truck is charging properly. Here’s a better sound clip of what it does under quick wot. It sounds sorta like a two step limiter or something of that nature. Video was taken in park.

Does this sound like it needs more tuning? Or the flaps need adjusted. If I would’ve thought about it I would’ve removed the air cleaner for the video. I can mess with it more in an hour or so when it stops raining. Also, I could smell fuel today, so could the white smoke be fuel mixed with the moisture today?

Also greased both driveshafts at every grease joint I could find and all the steering ends. The rear driveshaft is going to make a mess when it starts spinning lol
