pulls right and pops

i have a 1986 k5 blazer that ive been working on its stock height when i take it on test drives if i turn a certain way the wheel will pull right ill stop and turn the steering wheel both ways and i hear a pop and the wheel stops pulling and rests back any ideas on what could be the problem the front drive shafts not hooked up anyway

Lift the front end off the ground, get under the truck and check for looseness/binding in all of the steering components. Sounds like something is ready to let go.
