I think many of us would have gladly ponyed up the money rather than rebuild if they were available, lol

I will say I haven't had a set of the LMC windows to look at but based on the quality of their rubber I've seen/used in the past I would send a factory set for refurbishment instead of "new" ones everytime. I have seen several 63-72 aftermarket vent window sets an they are not the same level of quality as a factory set. I am willing to bet the 73-87 ones are made in the same factory as the 63-72 ones so they are probably on the same level as those. They will look an work well for 5-6 yrs probably but after that will be shot. A rebuilt factory set with good rubber should last 15 yrs or more like the factory ones did....

I rebuilt mine on my 77k10 back sometime around 2004 and they're still looking and doing great.Mine are in the elements every year since also.I spray the rubber once or twice a year with either silicone spray or rubber protectant. I do scrub all my weatherstripping anytime I wash the truck. The rubber came from LMC

LOL, I had my moments and one of our knowledgeable members just pointed out what is hopefully my last faux pas with them.
What took me entirely too long to do, the first time, I would now confidently do again, in lieu of buying "new" assemblies.
As a first timer, though, my break even was about $25/hr of my time, rebuilding myself vs new. And half that time was spent taping/prepping/painting the frames...and I took more apart than I needed to.

We all suffer together, lol. Still if lmc had them in stock when I needed them I would have not even blinked before clicking the buy button.

This is another one of those areas I would love to see how they were done originally on the assembly line / mass production.

Back ordered is an understatement! That’s why we rebuilt ours. However the Precision rebuild program was very appealing.

Musta a note. You DO NOT have to take the frames apart to put the two piece seal in like you see on many videos. We took one apart and rebuilt it with the smash rivets and the drivers vent we left together. It took less time, but was a little harder to work the seal into place. Lots of glass cleaner and patience.. had to walk away a few times but definitely doable.

Does the interior rubber flap get tucked into the door frame or does it lay on top? I’ve seen people do both

Good question. I’m gonna say tucked in, by the one pic I have. (Need to stop n look at an original one. There’s plenty of em around here. ) But my inside seal lays down nice. Although it might not look “right” once I get the A pillar trim back in.
