Power Steering

I have an 85 C1500 and was thinking about removing the power steering and putting on a manual gearbox. Really don't like the way the truck feels at cruising speeds with the power steering. Has anyone ever removed their power steering and if so did you like the results? I am just trying to get an opinion on power steering vs no power steering on these square body trucks.

Any input would be appreciated.

well i just picked a truck up with 39.5's with no power steering it only sucks when ur sitting still u actually have to use both hands to turn the tires but on the highway its not bad at all

I've driven a 77 longbed before with 31in tires, manual steering and it wasn't bad at all. Any healthy male or female should be able to handle it. I actually want to do this to one of mine too. I kick myself for not pulling the only manual steer box at Pull A Part before. Went back a week later since I knew it was there and had time, it was gone.

Thanks for the input, I would rather have a better feeling for the road at high speeds and I think for this year truck, manual might be the way to go.
