The Jackman welded grill guard was strong. I welded in a solid piece of angle iron and it was never was a problem carrying that heavy spare when I need the bed area open. I always ordered the bedside spare tire carrier in those days and it was unusable when hauling the camper.
I still have the Jackman, sitting in the old garage outback.

The M1008 and M1009 have decent grille guards.

Did the Jackman guard attach using just the bumper bolt locations? Was there also an optional bolt-on brush guard?

The grille guard used the 4 bumper bolts and one more bolt each side, total six. where the iron wrapped under the bumper through the frame horns. Very strong setup. Also bolt wholes in the under wrap for mounting tow hooks.
There was an optional brush guard feature that could have been fitted to it.

Hmm. I've got one that I never figured out who made it. It's very sturdy, but only uses the 4 bumper bolts. The lower section had recovery hooks, but I don't know if they were added on or not. It had a removable brush guard on it, I just run the main grille guard.

Here ya go. I’m not a big fan of this one since it’s not the look I’m going for so it’s gonna have to come off this week. It’s available if anyone wants it! :)

Couldn't tell ya. I got two steel ones from different junkyards. One was like 20 bucks from a u-pull-it and the other one was $60 and they removed it. But those are just painted steel. It was probably 10 years ago too, or longer.

You could probably get $100 plus for it. I paid $100 plus shipping for mine from a member here, and it’s painted. It’s rare to see a stainless one in good condition.

I finally got around to taking off the brush guard. Buffed out the scratches and rust with some steel wool and polish. Looks really good now!
