I want to get a big nasty offroad front bumper for my pick up, but not a lot of companies make them for our body style truck anymore. So i’ve resulted in spending some time at a steel shop then long nights in my shop with my welder.
What does everyone else’s front bumpers look like.!

Craiglist is always a good source. For my '79, I found this Warn bumper for an '89-99 GM truck and cut the ends to fit, $150. The brush guard was a NOS Bushwacker piece for a Jeep J20, $100. Just had brackets made to have everything fit.

Awesome old school bumper. Totally suits the square body. Functional all the way. Yours looks brand new, good score my man!
I can't stand those big bulky bumpers that are popular on the new junk trucks.
And a word of advice to those building their own... Don't over build it! You want your bumper to bend rather than your truck frame. How do you go about designing this...? Good question, but I know from experience a bomb proof bumper weighs too much and a hard enough whack will transfer into the frame and then you have drama coming home to roost. Another myth.... a big strong bumper will not save you in real accident, you will still be going through the windshield.
Remember to add hooks and tie points to your home made bumper. Recessed fog lights are nice. Clamp your high lift to it. I like a minimalist grill guard combined with a mount for the highlift. The jack sitting horizontal becomes part of the grill guard. Simple and functional.

Six years I think

Bought it for my then 15 yr old son as a reward for learning a foreign language

He wanted a 4wd , 4 speed , Stepside

This one came from Arizona

If I had known how easy it was to swap beds I would have just bought a fleetside

And if I had known how easy it was to swap transmissions I would have just gotten an automatic

It now has a LS and a NV-3500 five speed and Vintage Air AC

It’s been his daily driver since we got it

Well ,it’s his DD when he’s not working

He spends two weeks at a time in a Kenworth W-900L 18 speed with a heavy haul outfit

Was a pain to get em to fit
They are 15”
And apparently not made for disc brakes
Had to grind a good bit off the calipers to get them to clear

Also hard to find 35” tires for 15” rims now
