As I have always said about driving these trucks, "It is not miles per gallon that you should be worried about, it is SMILES per gallon. I was getting about 6.85 until my friend notice I had a short in my EFI and was firing the EFI all the time. The Electric Fuel sump was constantly clicking on and off. I am getting much better now. I have gone about 40 miles on the last fill-up and it hasn't moved off the Full mark. Fingers crossed! ! !
With EFI you should double your MPG of what you were getting on once it's straightened out

That is what I hoping when I put it in. I did get a 50% increase. 4.125 to about 6.5. I'm hoping to be up to 12 around town. I'll keep you posted.

before / after , what difference does it make anyways!??

serious though.
If your ignition REALLY IS set at 10° before top dead center , that's your problem.

Reset timing to 10° AFTER top dead center, take two aspirin and call me in the morning..

Don't bother posting the fix without pix.

Hope this helps!

You forgot 18436572

Ok did a compression test and all 8 are in the 164- 167 range so what I'm understanding this is good. I reset my timing to 8 degrees past tdc I'm having good power no idle issues and it's running smooth. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my mpg increases. We will see in the next few days

When I was in high school my buddy and I would sneak around the country farms looking for squarebodies after dark. Then we would take our piece of garden hose and siphon out 5-10 gallons of fuel. The money we saved on fuel paid for the beer for the night. Not saying it was right but just saying.
