My truck was all over the road, I found the pinch bolt on the pittman arm at the steering box needed to be tightened down. I cranked on it with wrenches as hard as I could working with the limited space there. I am hoping the splines didn't get damaged as the arm is not available from parts houses. I still need to make the 45 minute (5 mile) trip to a paved road to do a good road test to make sure that fixed it. How tight do you guys crank down on the bolt? It's a grade 8 so I know it should handle a lot .....

Haynes gives the pitman arm to shaft nut torque value as 90 ft-lbs.

Nothing provided in Chiltons or Alldata.

I assume they are talking about a nut on a threaded shaft?

Mine has splines and a notch for a pinch bolt to go through.

The 4x4's used the pinch bolt. I've always just snugged them up with an impact.
