I’m like 70% sure I want to do it lol. I’m sure it’s like anything else, if not done right it can leak. But I feel like a small bead of silicone and regular maintenance would mitigate the chance of any leaks. Luckily the guy I got It from sent everything. Inside rubber and metal trim, and what looks like the drill bushing wedged on the shaft. Looks like whoever installed it used the drill bushing as intended, and then just jammed the light shaft through it.

Screw the naysayers! After you get that installed, I suggest cutting the dash for a DIN, punching holes in the roof for cab lights, adding a Lund Sunvisor, rain guards on the side windows and to really piss them off...full length running boards.

It is more of an aesthetic thing, and I know there are better options out there. But I can at least say I have one tucked away IF I decide to go through with it. And it’s so purdy! It looks like a new one.

You are correct..that is prurty. I'm not saying don't do it. Like Craig said cop cars have them, for ever. It's your truck do what you want. I'm sure I can chock it up to, the previous owner of my 77 Jimmy. He was kinda of a fuktard. Take your time do it right...

I do have rain guards and yes, I screwed them on. But let’s not go overboard here. In fact step away from the power tools, and come put this nice warm jacket on that ties in the back....

Lol don’t worry, when it comes to drilling holes I take my time and do it to the best of my ability.

the handhelds are super convenient, no doubt about that.

i prefer a pillar mount though.
i actually do use these lights when out 'on the farm'.
it is nice to point it, and it stays there, while i go fix whatever needs fixin' after the sun went down.

my advice, make sure what you think is the drill bushing is the drill bushing.
the shaft bushing is not the drill bushing.
it looks like you could just drill and go but it will grab your bit.

also, if you don't have the template, unity will email you the template they package with the install kit for your vehicle.

i know of plenty of people happy with putting it where they want it.
i've always been happy with the template.

this last installation was probably my last.

i used all used/ebay stuff and it turned out great.
i would NOT do it with used stuff again though.

i disassembled the entire spotlight assembly to blast out the hardened grease.
i buffed all the contacts and soldered in a new power lead.

:)

Thank you for the input. I’ll double check the bushing, maybe I should have left it on the shaft. Oh well, it went on one time it’ll go back again. I’ll just need to have a drill bushing made, unless unity will send one with the template. One advantage these have over the hand held ones, this one won’t get lost, or left at home when you need it most lol.

Thinking of adding one to my truck. If you have one that you may want to part with, let me know.

These must be a well made piece of equipment. I don’t recall ever seeing a pitted or rusted one. Had one on a furd many years ago. It was the best thing about it.
