Checked pump clearances.

New rotor .015, new slide less than .015. Surface finish on both sides is ugly. Somebody resurfaced them on a mill with a worn out cutter. I'll be chucking them up in the lathe to get a better surface finish, and get clearances in spec.

Drainback circuit was wonky. .250" from the front bushing pocket, .3125 on the rear of the cover, then .225 through the pump body.

Not performance related, but I drilled the passage through the pump body to .281 and will chamfer the hole so it makes a clean transition after I refinish the pump surface.

Oddittitties in the pump.

PR valve. No TV or reverse boost. Just the valve, spring, and aluminum plug. Edit- 4L60E boost assembly sleeve.

Resurfaced pump, pressed out stator support, and checked pump clearance. Pump rotor and slide came in at .0018 after machining the pump.

Waiting for new Sonnax stator support to show up.

That sucks, man - sorry to see...i had a similar situation a month ago - found out the stator support was warped. Had to cannibalize another 700R4 core to put that pump back together.

Anyone know if TCI marks their constant pressure valve bodies in any way?

They use the same pressure regulator setup as what I had in this pump.

Moving forward. I'll come back to the pump and valve body.

Case prep is finished. Installed new seals on the low reverse piston and installed it in the case.

5 pinion rear planet from 4l65e

Replaced low reverse wave with 2 steels.



Installed the clutch pack and low roller assembly, then did an air check.

Bought a rebuilt pump from ebay. Met expectations (they weren't that high).


New rings, seals, and bushings. Used rotor, vanes, and (7 vane) slide.

Teflon coated bushing is good

Pump body and cover had some wear. Would have been ok in a stock build I'm sure, but I took them to the lathe and did a cleanup pass.

Installed new rotor and slide, vanes, pin, and unbreakable rings.
