PCV Question

Would the lack of a positive crankcase ventilation system cause a new crate engine to leak out of its rear main seal? Could a new engine concieveably be that tight? My Blueprint 383 is pushing oil out the rear main and that is the only reason I can think of as to why. I have rigged up a PCV valve to the carb base now, but haven't run the truck with it yet (tomorrow if it doesn't rain) I'm just wondering if my theory is plausible.....TIA Ross

The opposite of positive crankcase vaccuum is positive crankcase pressure, so your theory seems possible. Also I did a google search and someone else said when a new oil leak develops their first suspect is a stopped-up $1.50 PCV valve. Good luck, hope it fixes it.

id run a new pcv on one side and a breather on the other side

Well I did exactly as you guys suggested and guess what? PROBLEM SOLVED!! Thank God, I don't have to yank out my newly installed engine. The leak stopped almost imediately and hasn't recurred. I took her for a nice forty mile cruise yesterday and another roughly twenty miles today. She runs better/smoother with every passing mile! Thought I would put up some finshed pictures for you all who have been such a tremendous help to me with all the little headaches that have cropped up. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH GMSB FTW!! LOL
