Older colors are a PITA to find - especially the details. I would call a Sherwin Williams Automotive paint store. They can be hard to find but there's one near me I can call if need be. Looks like the new code for 30 is WA7159.

Most auto paint and body supply stores that have been in business for a while will have older paint books to look thru. Just need to get out there and look at the samples in person.

thanks you guys for input and compliments i have been trying to find some one to match paint sent the gas door to two different companies for custom matching both said no problem after spending $400 still not the same color thats why iam trying here for help 1980 sliveraldo k20 only 58000 miles was special ordered by my dad and in 1982 he was hit and died from a dd running stop sign so i baught it from the estate now they are saying that new code 30 dark blue metal just wandering why they keep dropping the word nordic because i beleive thats the problem found this from cj pony parts so i know its not a misprint on the vpi card. if some

Don't worry about the noun name; that's just marketing magic. Hugger orange on a Chevy is carousel red on a Pontiac.

You have to go by the paint code.

So you sent the gas door off to be painted?

Or you sent it off to be scanned to get the correct color?

If you are mailing it off for paint, it will never match doing it that way. There are too many variables in paint to match it solely with a code or color name. For example my 2018 Jeep color PW7 White there are 15 different paint chips in various similar shades for that code. If you are trying to match the gas door to the truck you need to get the color on the truck scanned. Even then there may be some blending that needs to be done.

ETA: I BS’ed one of the local body shop owners and he scanned my Jeep color and mixed me a pint of matching base coat for cheap.

First thought. Are you sure your expectations are in line with reality? “New” paint shouldn’t match exactly to anything that is 40 years old.
Next thought, outside of gas door will be weathered. Inside of gas door may or may not have even been fully painted (or maybe it looks pristine).
I sent my lower dash panel for a color match when I received the wrong color (wasn’t even close, not an age or fading issue). It is likely one of the best examples of un damaged OE paint color on the whole truck.

Fwiw I used Tamco paint. Second try the color was damn close match where you could compare old to new side by side in the door jambs.

Looks like is is to late but I have had good luck with PPG. I have had paint mixed in spray cans and for shooting through a gun for my 1967 C20. Just find a store that will mix for you. Spray cans run from $25 to $35 in my area (depending upon how many you buy, and if the guy behind the counter also has a similar vintage truck ;-))

I used these guys for a touch up pen set. Used only the GM code and ordered online. It matched really nice and I know for a fact the truck has been painted at least once. I think for you though photo match on the paint is going to get you what you desire.
