Why is that? Are they bad parts? I sell most of my unneeded parts. Most of the time for dirt cheap. Just to make a few bucks and to keep the parts in circulation for those who need them.

Do any of you have a good strategy for storing the hood, fenders, and doors so they wont get damaged? i hate to lean them against each other, and to set them on concrete...

Lots of good tips here. I use the baggies but fall short on pictures. A habit (taking pictures) I'm going to have to get into. My son does it ALL the time and yet I keep forgetting I have a cell phone for that. (Old school.)

Right now I end up doing You Tube searches to figure out how to re-assemble complicated parts like dash clusters and interior trim. My bad!

We were on a roll with some good tips until the peanut gallery fired up a couple weak suggestions.

I personally like taking pics, pics, pics, and save them in a folder that I can organize into an outline form as I take things apart. It's always nice to have them as a reference when going back together.

These Plano containers work well for storing bolts

I also like using these Sumitomo boxes my dad gets from his work, they are very rigid and fit things like SBC head bolts and pushrods perfectly. Also you can set the top upside down when cleaning bolts, take dirty one out, clean, put in top half of box. I write on every box or part with sharpie saying what it came off of, what it is, used, etc. I have a lot of projects so it helps me keep track of them.

For the larger parts they go where they will fit. Having another truck of the same era is nice too for reference.

I have a folder on my computer called Automobiles, then sub folders and each truck has it's own folder, like 84C20 or 85K1500, then I go even further and sub folders under those sub folders. So I know where all my pics to a certain project are in that folder. Let's say I'm building a transmission. Then I'll have a folder Pics/Automobiles/85K1500/TransRebuild... Not hard to remember where those pics will be. It might be Pics/Automobilies/84C20/RearBrakes Consider it Notes to self. Believe it or not, it's cool going back years later and seeing the pics or if someone here is doing a rear brake job on a C20, then I have Pics that might be helpful to them.

Thats what I do aswell. It is sure neat to see how far something has progressed or even my own methods and skills have progressed.

Id recommend dry erase on the inside of thr compartment so it cam be changed for next project.
