In 2012 when I first saw mine, hated it, and wished the truck looked completely different. 12 years later, it's sexy, and it stays original. Wow, just realized this photo is 5 years old!

That's definitely my least favorite grille (well, second least only in front of the 88-91). If the truck is really cool with a good look and some period stuff that I want to maintain it's look, I'd leave it. If it's just a run of the mill truck or I'm gonna build it and change up the looks, it's definitely getting changed

I like them, but they have to (in my opinion) be complete with the 81-82 bumper, bezels, etc.

Kind of a throwback to the 71-72 trucks with the turn signals in the bumper.

I was always gonna keep it '81 grill and its a complete original silverado truck

'81 has a chrome grill or not chrome option.

I see 83-84 and 85- dont have chrome option from LMC etc and also have separate center strip pieces

You could put one of those slat billet type phantom grills in? Just kidding. Even the blind hate those! Apologies to the blind.

Still think it would be cool to use a 81-82 bumper on a later model and have a spot in the bumper for fog lights or driving lights.
@GMC_Nick s truck is like that

Yet another reason I fckin love the look of that truck!
Those just look like a second set of turn signals though. Did he make em in to driving lights or??

I've seen it done. There's a guy on IG I think with a red, lowered 85-87 that put that bumper in and figured out how to make them fog lights. Can't remember now what all was involved. I considered it for a little while but decided against it

That’s my led fog light plan. Considering painting my grill and headlights trim white as well. I don’t want to spend $$ on silver paint when I have plenty of white.
