Lol, first glance at the title had me thinking there was a spammer intrusion.

But that's a sweet deal on a Caddy 500. I'd love to have one to play with :)

Dude. That engine will end up in the Blue Ox so fast it'll make your head spin!

I see it's been listed for 30 days?!
Wtf.
Ima call that old boy and see what's up with it because a 500 cid Cadilliac engine has always been a dream!

I test drove a 1979 Trans Am with one in it maybe 20 years ago and that ride has never left me. Straight up bucket list engine!

I'd have the heads freshed up and get @HotRodPC to build the 400. Straighten up that Quad.. I bet it runs. **** it. We can build it later.
You know the mounts are for sale SOMEWHERE..
GUARANTEED BOLT-IN.

Plus a pair of headers?

Y u r no n mah squah?

I vote we bolt it in and turn the key.
'Merica!
:patriot:

Lemme start the camera first!

Come on...complete?! *feen!*
I am sick AF over that deal...I should call the squarebody hotline.

I learned something today... 1st time I've seen a GM V-8 with a front
mounted distributor.
Just shows what I (don't) know.

Buick has front mount too, my favorite torque monster, '71 455 set up in stage 1 config, easy 510 ft/lbs at 2,800 rpm.

Find a set of early 472 Cadillac heads, bolt them on, you have a factory 12:1 compression “race” engine. Way back, I worked at a Buick and Cadillac dealership, the old timer Cadillac tech had a mid 80 Fleetwood he swapped a 500 with the 472 heads. I’m not sure what else he did to the engine, but it had that typical smooth as glass Cadillac idle, the A/C worked, absolutely dead quiet (just like you would expect from Cadillac flagship) but ran like a scolded dog. It was a fun ride, steering the front end with the steering wheel, the rearend with the throttle. Gotta love that torque.

That is a good price. Before I went diesel, I was looking for one of those. Trouble is, up here, they go for about twice that if you're lucky. The only downside I ever heard about, is the valve train, doesn't like high rpm. But the aftermarket has a solution for that too. Can't recall the website, but there's one out there (or was) that is offering all the go fast goodies for these.

With 580 Lbs-Ft of torque, you don’t need lots of RPM. I’m a Olds guy at heart, few engines can rival the torque of a 455 Olds, the Cadillac 500 engine is one of them. Keep the gearing fairly low, make that torque do what it does best.

Lol, first glance at the title had me thinking there was a spammer intrusion.

My first thought was that it HAS TO BE good ole Rusty.... I was not disappointed!

This motor is on my "oddball" must do list. But I will admit... wouldn't a 502bbc put out the same amount of power? Cheaper?

I don’t know how anything BBC can be “cheap”. Around here, a core BBC engine is a grand. Cadillac engines are lighter, and put out more torque than just about any engine, all things being equal. They were designed to effortlessly move 5500 pound land barge, and do it smoothly.
