Since you've started it, I'm going to offend people too.

I was never very interested in Corvettes, and these third gen cars are probably the reason. Gawd knows I tried to like them because all the other kids thought they were sooooo cool. But the styling was way too gaudy and overdone for me. So it not only wasn't a hot chick, their reputation for handling was as bad your girl was in bed. I do admit that the earlier bumper cars weren't as hard to look at, but the more they restyled and updated them the worse they got.

More recently, my neighbor had a '74. I was usually helping him fix something stupid on it, and I got to see the build quality. It was everything wrong with the U.S. auto industry in the '70s. A piece of junk right out of the factory that got worse with age.

Fortunately, GM got their act together with the 4th Gen and brought good taste and handling to the Corvette. Build quality was better, but still not great. What's strange is that it borrowed so many styling cues from the third gen car, yet it looked good. Go figure.

May get flamed for this but the only vettes I like are the old 60's models and the new mid engine models.

Got a 63 coupe and while it's a lot of fun to drive, it's a b!tch to get out of.............for this old man anyway...........and why these models(C2) have rear view mirrors is beyond comprehension!!!

For pure style and aesthetics I agree the second generation cars from '63 to '67 were just gorgeous. Although, the '56-'57 cars have a style that is very reminiscent of my mom's Mercedes 190SL of the same vintage that I loved.

The mid-engine cars,... If they had a manual gearbox option I'd probably be looking to get one. But that flappy-paddle $#it? Prolly not.

Worst ever IMHO is the 3rd Gen cars. Gaudy and junky at the same time.

Now we can both put on our asbestos shorts.

**** Oh look. I already did this. Sorry for being twice as opinionated.

It don't even got round taillights...:nono:
I don't know how they get away with calling that thing a Corvette.

I had a ‘72 as a much younger man, I loved it and still do love that generation. A neighbor up the street has a red 69 sitting in the garage, it was her husbands. I’ve told her several times I’d be interested if she sold it.
The later generations are incredible, my buddy has a ‘15 it’s stupid fast and handles like a race car. I can only imagine the latest version…
