Came across our first mechanical hurdle. It’s gotten cooler temps again the last day or so. With that, she’s been harder to start and running rough (sometimes dying) until she’s up to operating temp. I’m thinking there might be a sensor issue. She was purring like a kitten when the temps were nice out :)

You'll probably want to check the fuel pressure. TBI doesn't take much pressure to run ok, and if it gets just a little lower, it can run very poor. Cold starts and cold air require more fuel and it can be enough to push a weak running TBI into "poor running".

So then possibly weak fuel pump?

Thanks! I’ll check that out, too.
There's two. One for the ECM, one for the gauge. And when they go bad, they usually do not throw a code. THe ECM sensor is located on the intake by the thermostat housing.

I’ll try Jay’s idea first (cheap and easy to throw one on) and if that doesn’t fix it I’ll see what fuel pressure looks like

Yep. Although if it doesn't fix it, save the old sensor. I've had a couple replacements in recent years that caused issues after a little while.

Absolutely. Quality of today’s parts is not what it once was that’s for sure.

Welp, @RetroC10Sport is the big winner tonight!! Purrs like a kitten now!

So, the gauge in the gauge cluster doesn’t work. So the previous owner put in an aftermarket coolant temp gauge under the dash. To do tnat, he used that port next to the thermostat neck and left the gauge used by the ECM just hanging out over by the valve cover with electrical tape around it  looks like this weekend we’ll be putting that gauge sensor in its proper location so that he has a temp sensor again

So my oldest kid is 17 and has now bought his first rig. His criteria was it had to be a stick shift and needed to be a square, S10 pickup or S10 blazer and his very top dollar was only $3k.

Long story short, we stumbled across this gem! Drove down to Springfield and drove her back to KC on Friday. She’s a 5 speed with a 4.3, 157k miles and is SUPER clean. Does need a little rust repair but nothing major and the rust will be repaired this spring. It’ll be a good opportunity for me to teach the kid how to do body work :)

And get this…..he only gave $1,500 for it  I told him that if he didn’t buy it I was going to! Lol

On to a few pics. He’s taken off the running boards and has a bunch of other ideas rolling around his head :)

Makes me feel better, for sure. Been fighting a P0440 code on my Aztek for almost a year. I've replaced pretty much everything but the entire gas tank and it doesn't have any leaks or cracks.
