While i was working on the basket case today (1981 c10 250 I6 3 speed saginaw on the tree) i decided to fix the reverse lights. I pulled the bulbs and tested them and they are good but there is no electricity getting to the bulb sockets. normally there is a switch on the side of the transmission that will activate the reverse lights so i decided to try to see if i have power to that switch....... under the truck i slide and i checked the drivers side. no switch ok, tried the passenger's side. still no switch. ?!? top of the transmission????? still no switch............. Anyone out there know where that stupid switch is? the only place i can think is in the steering column. Is it possible that the switch is there? if not does anyone know where the stupid switch is? Please let me know.

Big thanks

Mike

Look under your reverse/ 1st shift arm on the tranny.
You must be registered for see images attach

With that said and the picture taken, and some head scratching. The other trans I have does not have said switch. Will also say I am by no means positive that is the reverse switch, but can't imagine what else it would be.
After working on the race car today, thats the 2nd and 3rd gear changer anyhow. I've no idea where the damm switch is?

The switch is on top of the steering column under the dash. It’s a reall joy to get to held on by two little screws. I’ve found they can be taken apart by bending the tabs and carefully removing the backing plate (careful of the spring) and clean all the old grease out of it and clean up the contacts then re grease with die electric grease and re assemble
