Oil pan off, anything I should do while I’m under there?

Never mind. I found the answer to my dumb question in another thread. Now, I just need to find the thread about replacing the rear main seal without pulling the engine. :)

Probably a dumb question, but can the oil pan be removed without pulling, or at least raising the engine?
Yes, at least on my model. It’s a 3/4 ton 2wd with a 350 engine. I’m not sure about other models or engines

Is it a one or two piece rear main seal?

It’s a 74 C10, original base model 350, so most likely 2-piece. I’ve found some videos showing how it can be done with the crank in the engine. I just hope I don’t have to do that.
Yeah most likely a two piece. I believe the one piece started in ‘86. It’s very simple to do and shouldn’t take much time.

There may be exceptions, but every GM truck I've ever worked on, yes. Back in the good old days, when there was room to swing a cat around the engine.

There's a (Lisle or KD Tools) kit specifically for removing and reinstalling GM rear mains. Works just fine from below with the oil pan and the rear main bearing cap off.
