No that isn't oil gallery. I had similar nuisance oil leaks with my 454, looked everywhere at the front the engine, ended up tightening the oil pan, all fixed.

If its a fresh engine, I would go through and retorque the timing cover and oil pan bolts like Dave suggested. After a few heat cycles they might have loosened up.

I have a 1985 k20 suburban. Just recently got a new motor for it. Still stayed with the 350 but put in a newer version with a roller cam. I'm noticing some oil on the water pump, alternator and also on the air cleaner. I been trying to see where it is coming from. It isn't leaking on the ground. It happens when I'm driving. Any ideas please let me know thanks

I’m having a similar issue on my 454 in my ‘80 K25. You need to clean off the oil. You can use Dawn. It works great. Sling a bunch of soap ropes all over the area and agitate and wash it off with a garden hose and a spray nozzle. Let it dry.

While parked, run the truck at a fast idle. Like at Highway RPMs. You may have to prop the pedal or throttle lever on the carb. Wait a few minutes. Get underneath and look for the leak. You may have to run it for a while, but eventually the leak will show up and you need to be down there when it starts leaking, otherwise the fan will just blow it all over the place. Even the dye will get blown all over the place if you don’t catch the leak as it starts.

Another possible source of the leak is the fuel pump gasket, which looks like it might be where my leak is coming from.

Don’t underestimate how much that fan can blow the oil around.

Hope this helps.

Also look at the fuel pump itself, I've never experienced it but there is a small hole in the pump body that can leak oil because the pump is failing, some one else may better explain this.

Front china wall?
What they call the block on the front. There is a back China wall too. Basically it's the top of the block where you seal to the intake, between the left and right heads there is a "wall" that those little gasket pieces go on or you use RTV to seal it.
