Anybody know what the factory original grille and headlight trim was made out of on these trucks? 1977 specifically. Best I can tell is it was plastic, but that seems highly unlikely? The headlight trim I have now is metal, but the grille is a plastic "billet" unit.

Grilles are plastic, some had metal trim on the grille. The factory headlight bezels are metal.

'73-80 were plastic grilles with metal headlight surrounds. '81-up is all plastic. Throughout all of the years 73-87, certain trim levels got various stainless pieces added to the grille or surrounding the grille

At least on the squares you have the separate headlight bezels, so if someone hits a corner it doesn't destroy the entire grille..... Got a corner whack on the Burb a couple years ago and just the grille was over $400. Other driver's Allstate paid for it though. Total damage was over $2500, bumper and brackets were tweaked.
