NV4500 Swap - Clutch/Hydraulics Dilemma

I do not know if it is just me but the 5 speed in my 95 F150 with a straight six seem to have a better over all gear ratio between gears than the NV4500. I am only running BFG 33 " I need to have my local drive line shop drive it to see if they would recommend a rear end gear ratio change. I think some nv4500 have different ratios between the gears.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I believe the input shaft is different and the output shaft has a different spline count.

Dodge vs GM are different diameter and spline. The shafts can be swapped if 95 and later.

The 92-94 GM are different than the dodge. After that they are the same. 2wd vs 4wd doesn't matter as far as shafts. A 4wd will have a different rear tail housing. 4wd bolts to a 6 bolt round pattern t-case, 2wd has a slip-yoke tail housing.

When I was researching doing NV4500 swap into my 77K10 I found that AA has a great tech page on the NV4500. May help you out.

By far the easiest solution is to call Advance Adapters and tell them what you have. They have complete packages. Everything will be new and/or rebuilt. It's not the cheapest option but it will save you months or years piecing it together and rebuilding used parts.

But im in the process now of swapping a late model nv4500 in place of my 700r4 (more work than your swap) you can run you current master cylinder and the late model slave cylinder by using this hose. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear-64191936erl and these 2 adapters. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear-ls641001erl https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear-592054erl. on it just an option.


Also know that the 2001 2500 hd may have a slightly taller top shifter plate and shifter knub and this will plache the shift handle and knob higher. This is because the hd of that year had a factor body lift. This is what i have been told. And i have not completed my swap yet so take my info with a grain of salt.

I get external slave is easy maint but a quality internal slave should last a long time usually longer than the clutch and just replace it when you do the clutch as maint. My daily driven chev cobalt has internal slave and im on origional slave and clutch 15years and 265,000miles so far.

The fitting threaded on both ends goes into the line hole on the master then attaches to the hose listed then the other fitting goes on the other end of the hose and will attach to the quick disconnext on the internal slave cylinder.

The master itself is indeed. The throw out is from the 05 nv4500 and has a similar fitting on it.
I seen the master on the 05 has that same roll pin line lock. Gotta be something out there to adapt to it, I’d think.
