Weren't most np205 rears fixed yoke?

I don't think so... I believe some of the dodge or ford ones were, and places like ORD sold a FYE kit for the Chevy units by sourcing the dodge output shaft. Apparently you can't get them anymore because the shafts aren't being produced anymore.

My 80 has a factory 205 and is the front Cardan flat plate like sirweesarunch's pic and a rear slip yoke with a one piece driveshaft.

Based on those pics, it looks like someone has a weird mishmash of stuff on the front. Are those cast caps welded or stuck onto the universal joint cap on that cardan joint? I believe those caps would have originally attached to the flat plate that would have then bolted to the flat yoke on the front output of the 205. It would probably work(if you can remove the cap) to just remove them and use standard 1310 u-straps through that yoke. It would be the same straps on both sides then of the front driveshaft.

In fact, take one of the straps off the rear output and see if it fits the front. If it does, take them with you to the parts store and get 4 more when you return the straps that don't work...

On my 205/th400 it had the fixed yoke set up. I wonder if it was similar to gmt400's where two piece rear driveshaft units would get fixed and one piece rear driveahaft units would get a slip yoke

70's chevy np205 mated to a sm465. Fixed rear and front with the factory strap style u-joints.

I've never seen a 4x4 with a 2 piece rear driveshaft... was it a crew-cab? Suburban?

Unsure, bought the trans and transfer case off a guy. It's a 12 spline np205, but I would say mid 70's

If i can use my current driveshafts that would be best, especially being i spent $600 getting the rear one duplicated. The front, if i need to get a new one if you guys suggest new yokes/flanges, i understand. I want this done and i want it done right/to last. Open to all ideas
It seems your front driveshaft was a Cardan joint at some point and still is halfway. Some funky stuff going on here, don't see why that wouldn't work like that, other than doing maintenance.

But it seems like someone was doing some handy work for sure.

okay, so the cardan join is threaded at the u joint for a bolt, but the yoke on the transfer case doesn't have threads, doesn't make much sense. And the whole truck is "handy work" you should see the flippin thing

The threaded u joint caps are the handy work here, definitely not factory chevy trucks of the era. Seems like the front output flange was also swapped possibly.

But the front driveshaft is for sure off an 80's truck with the double cardan joint, that would have had the flat flange.
