So I’m new to this but I have a quick question. So I just bought a 1980 K10, it sat for 10 years prior to me buying it. I’ve got it to run off of dumping fuel in the carb tube but after it sucks what gas I put in it dies. I’ve inspected all my lines, disconnected them from the tank and fuel pump and blew them out. Cranked the engine numerous times. Still nothing. I’m getting fuel to the fuel pump but not through the fuel pump to the carb. I was wondering what you guys thought. I thought maybe a bad filter sock or fuel pump but I’m not sure.. thanks in advance

I'd replace pump and filter first. Easy enough and quickest way to eliminate 2 of the causes.

Replace the pump and "rebuild" the carb. If you don't want to pull the carb all the way and tear it down, I would highly suggest at the very least look in the bowls I have found some pretty nasty stuff in there on running rigs.

Check out my write up for some tips before you dig in.

I just installed a new fuel pump and that fixed it, thank y’all though!

That's great Jonathon. Thanks for coming back with a follow up. Many don't, especially newbs. They show up, get help and never to heard from again until the next breakdown leaving all kinds of threads without resolve. :waytogo:

BTW, great project. Feel free to sit a spell, take your shoes off. Start a build thread in the under construction thread. About nothing but your truck. Very cool to look back on a year or 2 later and see where it's gone and your progress. Not to mention get help and opinions along the way.

Here's the link to that category. Hit the New Thread button.
