Newbie needing help

I’m new to working on vehicles. I got a 1983 Chevy K10. The vehicle starts fine but then has a hard time idling without stalling. If I sit and rev the engine for like 30 seconds it will then run fine. Any ideas on how to fix the trouble idling?

If it runs better once warmed up, the choke may be inoperable.

so does the electric choke maybe need replaced?

Does sound like a choke issue. When completely cold does the choke plate close? That is the butterfly on front venturi. Butterfly should be just closed when cold and open slightly after starting.

Are you also new to a carbureted vehicle that has a choke? You do know, you need to set the choke before starting the truck. Push the accelerator one time to the floor and release, then crank the engine.
