Good question. When I ran the numbers on the back of the block, it came back as a 396.

Hello all,

I went to fill up my dual tanks this AM and the gas doesn’t seem to be getting drawn out of the RH (passenger’s side tank).

After searching the net and this forum, there is some conflicting info on the valve that controls the dual tank set up near the tanks. The info seems different based on year. School me if I’m wrong.

I did purchase a new dash switch, hoping that will solve the problem, BUT (gotta love big buts!?) what other possible causes should I be looking for? It’ll be a few weeks before I can real world test the switch as I switched it over to the LH side after I installed the switch.

Also, is there a specific Ohm reading I should be getting at the dash switch power input, and then for output?

I’d say switch, fuse, wiring or tank selector valve. Doesn’t really narrow it down, lol.
What I was told though is the selector valve operates such that switching one way energizes the valve and switches to that tank. Switching the switch to the other tank de energizes the tank valve and essentially “defaults” to that tank in the event of a short, bad switch etc.
Idk which tank is the default, but one might assume it’s the left or drivers side since that is the typical side on single tank trucks?
Maybe helps in your diagnosis.

why do you say you can’t test switching the tanks?
