Anyone know what's needed for registration or title for a body swap like this? May have found an 01 dmax, just need to get the price right. If I put an 80's body, any idea if I just leave it titled 80's?

Thanks!

just leave it titled as a 80 seen many 50's chevy truck bodys with the original title riding on newer chevy s10 powertrains and chassis

think I found a truck...hopefully hash out the purchase this week.

'84 K30, 3+3, 454, 4speed, 4x4, flatbed, 90k miles, rust free

Didn't want a crew cab, but I love them too.

So now I need to find a longer duramax chassis, which may be easier... Let the fun begin!

Live in Erie, IL.

The truck is coming from Central Montana...found it while out here for work, the farmer we're working with had it sitting in an old abandoned farm lot, so I offered to buy it! So getting it home is the next challenge.

'84 1 ton 3+3 4x4, 454, 4 speed, 90k miles, a few dents and dings, but I planned on bodywork/paint no matter what truck I got...anyways, overall its solid.

Eh paint is only cosmetic. As long as its solid, that's what matters. Have fun with gas driving it home!

haha true...but the dents it has the paint has faded and has some slight surface rust on those few spots...I just don't want it to get worse with living in Illinois.

Plan is to drive back out with the F350 and haul it back on a trailer.

Either way gas mileage is gonna suck! F350 with a 8k lb truck on a trailer. Lol more like gallons to mile than mile to gallon. I know what you mean about it getting worse in Illinois thanks to our lovely weather and salty roads in the winter. Sounds like you'll have a nice project though.

Yup, its about 14mpg with my trailer loaded. Either way, I'm money ahead for what I paid for the truck, so I have no problem making the 40hr. drive round trip. Plus I travel a lot for work, so being on the road doesn't bother me.

As for now, I'm going to keep to my original plan with a body swap onto duramax chassis. The guy I bought the truck from has some leads for more rust free bed/parts which is awesome. So anyways, I'll prolly drive it around until I find a donor duramax truck, but eventually I'll be selling the axles, tcase, transmission, 454, super clean frame, etc.
